How Do You Measure the Size of a Ring?
We find that 50% of the people who work at jewelry stores don’t even know what they are doing when measuring the size of a ring or measuring a person’s finger! Depending on the measuring stick or mandrel, the ring can line up on the left, the middle, or the right of the mark. And if it is one of the CHEAP plastic sticks, who knows where it lines up!
We use the Bergeon 5235-Digital measuring module that measures at the accuracy of 100th of a millimeter. Most jewelry stores don’t want to fork out the kind of money to have one of these units let alone how many we have. It is impossible to get an inaccurate reading with the Bergeon 5235-Digital measuring module.
So if you go to a jewelry store and they tell you your ring is a half size larger than we said it is, they do not know what they are doing. The fact is that you got measured 1/2 size to big and if it was the same person who measured your finger, that should tell you something!
